Unbeaten Na Fianna hope to head poll

A brisk start from Na Fianna in the Dublin Senior Championship. Two from two and a place in the semi-final.

Wins came against Thomas Davis and Clanna Gael Fontenoy. “It is good to get the two results under the belt, “ says manager Ray Dorney.

Tomorrow (wed) night, they go to Malahide to face St Sylvester’s , who have also made the last four.

“Whoever wins that game will be at home in the semi-final, so that is a big incentive.”

Last season, Ray was a selector as the Mobhi side reached the championship final. Fingallians took gold after two cracking matches. “They were two wonderful games alright, although we were disappointed at the end. Hopefully we might get back to the final again this time, but all we are focusing on right now is Sylvester’s.”

He is enjoying the gig. “It’s a step up but things are going well. He salutes his colleagues - Lyn Savage, Niall Williams, and the Dublin All-Star, Bernie Finlay.

He anticipates a demanding semi-final. “Foxrock-Cabinteely are through, and they will be joined by Fingallians, Ballyboden or St Brigid’s, so there will be no easy games there.”
