Trap to give McCarthy big chance

GIOVANNI Trapattoni will give James McCarthy a gilt-edged chance to nail down his Euro 2012 ticket against the Czech Republic.

While most of the pre-match hype revolves around Sunderland star turn James McClean, Trapattoni quietly confirmed that McCarthy is the main object of his attention over the next few days.

"I've seen James (McCarthy) and he has played well. I have talked with him and told him what we want to do and I think that he can do that for us.

"At the moment there is a little difference between the systems we play. I've talked to him about what I want him to do in various situations. I hope that this will help him. Hopefully, he will play many games with this team but hopefully too in the next game I think he will get the opportunity to play," said Trap, who will give McClean and Shane Duffy game time.

"Sure I have to decide first or wait for the second half but yes, sure, I will give them some time. "
