Trap defends McClean decision
GIOVANNI TRAPATTONI has defended his decision to leave James McClean out of his squad for the final friendly before Euro 2012 against the Czech Republic on February 29.
“We have two or three months and we will follow the new players,” said Trap.
“Maybe in the future, players like McClean, like Pilkington and others can come in, Duffy for instance. But this game is not the time.
“I think all the squad deserve to come with us. They believe us and they know us. We have four or five other names because we have no time to change.”
“One is McClean, I spoke with him and I said congratulations James, I wish you to come with us. We now have insurance that he can play with us and this is important.
“He said, when you decide, call me up,” added Trap.
“I told him 100% he will be with us for the future. Now, I’m looking to consolidate,” he added. “We will continue to follow him and the other players, they deserve this.”
