ALLIANZ HL DIV 1A: CORK v TIPPERARY (Páirc Uí Rinn, Tomorrow, 2.0, TG4)
In an unpredictable League for reasons of unknown motivation, the smart money was on the teams with a new manager trying to go as far as possible into the competition.
Liam Sheedy was both the new manager with the biggest pedigree and the man with the most talent at his disposal, yet Tipperary have made it just one victory from four Division 1A games.
A Tipp victory here - provided Wexford v Kilkenny produces a winner - would see a three-way tie between these two and whoever loses in Wexford Park, leaving scoring difference to decide which of the three advances.
John McGrath is expected to make his first league start in an attack that already boasts the scoring power of Seamus Callanan, John O'Dwyer and Jason Forde although balancing all those talents may be the trick Sheedy needs to pull off most of all for Tipperary to be successful.
A win and almost certainly a draw would put Cork into the last eight and extended their spring but so oscillating have their previous performances been, it's difficult to discern which fate John Meyler considers preferable.
For no other season than Sheedy's reluctance to sign off on spring with just one win from five, we're inclined to back a Tipp win.
ODDS: Cork 10/11 Draw 8/1 Tipperary 6/5
