CLANNA GAEL FONTENOY

THOUGH the season's competitive fixtures have come to an end, particularly at under-age level, there has still been plenty of activity around the club. On the field of play, many of the teams have taken the opportunity to arrange friendlies and there has been no shortage of skills and no small amount of passion on display from the likes of our U11 boys hosting Round Towers of Clondalkin, our U12 boys hosting Whitehall Colmcille's and our U13 girls playing host to Templeogue/Synge Street. Off the field of play, a highlight event was the presentation of medals on Saturday morning in the clubhouse to the U12 boys, who claimed the Division 1 South Dublin football title. It's not often that Clanna Gael Fontenoy get the better of much larger and better resourced clubs like Ballyboden St Enda's and Kilmacud Crokes, so this was an occasion to be relished. Clanns man and Dublin senior selector, Declan Darcy, was on hand to give some sound words of advice, as was Club Manager, Shay Connolly, who brought his unique brand of enthusiasm to the occasion. The week's (11 November) Club Lotto draw produced the following numbers: 11, 16, 25 and 32 (Jackpot A); and 8, 12, 18 and 27 (Jackpot B). The jackpot was not won and going forward the jackpots stand at €10,000 and €4,200 respectively. The last of the tickets are available for this year's club Christmas Gala Dinner which takes place on 7th December in the Clyde Court Hotel in Ballsbridge. The evening will kick off at 7.30pm with a champagne reception followed by a four-course dinner and dancing. The cost of tickets has been held at the very reasonable price of €60 and enquiries are welcome to maeve.on@gmail.com.

KILMACUD CROKES

IT was a bad weekend for most club teams, as we fell short in a number of important games. The Minor A and B teams lost their respective championship finals on Sunday morning. The As lost to Cuala by 8 after extra-time, while the Bs lost out to Raheny. Hard luck to both management teams and players. The AFL9 team suffered further heartbreak on Sunday afternoon against Na Gaeil Óga, in their league play-off final. After coming back from 6 points down, the team lost by 1 in the end, 0-12 to 1-8. It was a fantastic effort by the team to come back, but unfortunately, it wasn't to be. The AHL5 team also lost their league play-off semi against Ballyboden on Sunday morning, on a scoreline of 3-10 to 0-9. Hard luck to the above teams. There was one positive result on Sunday, as the AHL3 hurlers drew against Parnell's to secure a home play-off in their league. Sunday also marked the end of two Crokes' dual players' careers. Barraí Brennan bowed out after the junior hurling match, as he moves to Boardsmill in Meath, after 26 years of playing with the club. John Ross Hunt also brought his Crokes' career to an end on Sunday in the junior football. JR moved back to his native Douglas in Cork at the start of the summer, and has shown fantastic commitment to travel up for games. We wish both players well in the future, and thank them for their great service to the club over the years. The first club lotto draw will take place this Thursday, if you are interested in buying a year ticket, you only have 2 days left. In sad news, the club would like to sympathise with the O'Brien family on the death of Eoin. Eoin was a son of football mentor Greg, and a brother of adult players Adam, AFL9, and Cian, AHL5. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

ROUND TOWER, LUSK

THE first Annual Girls 7-a-side 1st year Blitz took place in Round Towers last week. Many thanks to the players and teachers from Lusk, Skerries and Ardgillan Community Colleges who participated this year. The blitz started at a ferocious pace with some great scores and skill level in evidence from all involved. Skerries showed that they were going to be hard to beat in the tournament against a very hard working Lusk team. Ardgillan was up next and they showed glimpses of good form and that this was going to be an enjoyable outing for all involved. In a repeat of the first game, Lusk and Skerries proceeded to the final. Lusk came out fighting in the first half with a view of revenge for the first game defeat. Skerries then proceeded to dominate the game in the second half with the excellent Sarah Whelan showing her all round skills and team play. Lusk just couldn't find that killer goal and the game finished on a score line of 2-5 to 1-3 in favour of Skerries. Many thanks to Round Towers Lusk, John Daly, James Devlin, Karen Harford for assisting on the day & GPO Shane Treanor for organising the event. A special mention goes to Sarah Whelan, who picked up the Player of the Tournament award. Round Towers runs a Nursery every Saturday morning from 10.45am-12pm. WELL done to our ladies minor footballers, who won the Minor Division 1A Championship Shield, defeating Na Fianna 8-9 to 3-9. The girls were in control for the whole match and led by 2-7 to 1-4 at half-time to win the club's first minor title in ladies football and the first Division 1 title in the ladies game in the club's history. The future is bright with the entire squad minor again next term. Well done to all the girls and the management team of Ann Kilcoyne and Liam Devanney. Well done to the U21 Hurlers, who had a comprehensive victory over Whitehall Colmcilles in their first game in the defence of their U21 Title. The lads won 4-19 to 0-8 in a game they dominated from start to finish. The St Jude's Strategic Review Committee (SRC) has been working over the past 12 months to draw information and experience from sources within and outside the club to deliver a proposed pathway for St Jude's GAA in how the club can prepare players and coaches going forward in order to compete at the top levels in all juvenile Codes, maintain senior status and gain status across all codes. A final report on the proposals being put forward by the SRC has now been prepared. A draft of this report has been presented to the Executive Committee. We would now like to invite all other members to attend a presentation of the final report on Thursday 21st November from 8.30pm-9,30pm in the back lounge. This is an important meeting for the club and I would urge any member with an interest in the future development and success of our games in Naomh Jude CLG to attend. There will be a night to celebrate 20 years since St Jude's gained senior football status on Saturday 23rd November. All the players from that era have been invited and it will be a great night meeting old friends and maybe making new ones. Everybody is invited and it is sure to be a great night.

Congrats to our senior team on maintaining their Division 1 status with a well-earned draw against Ballyboden in Saggart last Wednesday evening. The final minutes were nerve-wrecking as Boden came from two points down to draw level with almost the last kick of the game. Our thanks to Niall, Bonzo, Byrner and Coyner for their efforts throughout the year. Our juniors were very unlucky to lose out to Fingallians after extra-time in their league semi-final. Our thanks to Ryaner, David, Gavin, Jacs and Cricket for their support throughout the year. As the season comes to a close, a date for your diary is Saturday December 7th when we hold our members Xmas night. Our AGM takes place on Thursday evening at 8pm sharp in the clubrooms. There has been a fantastic response to our girls' underage academy. Both Emma 085-7419114 and Cathy 086-8061400 are delighted with the turnout, but we now require adult help for such a large group of girls. If any parents or individuals can help out please give either of the girls a call. Training continues every Wednesday at 6.30pm. Our juvenile academy continues again next Saturday, with the 4 and 5 year olds being coached from 10am to 11am and the 6 to 7 year olds from 11am to 12 noon. All children are welcome to attend. ST PATRICK'S, DONABATE

LEAGUES are finishing up for the year, but that doesn't mean that St Pat's are letting up on matches. Our U10 boys had a good win away to Templeogue Synge St with an impressive passing display. Our U11 boys faced Thomas Davis for the first time. In contrasting games, we led in one match and trailed in the other at half-time. However, favours were reversed in the second half in both games – with Pat's coming back strongly in one and being neck and neck in the other. Thomas Davis came out on top eventually and we look forward to their next encounter. The U12 boys were beaten by a strong St Margaret's team, but had a sound game on the full pitch so it all bodes well for their entry into U13 football next year. Congratulations to our U13 girls who took on a solid St James Gaels side on a cold Ballamastone afternoon. Their win over Gaels 8-11 to 3-08 sees them finish second in their league in this, their first-ever season of footie. Well done to Fiona, Joe, Damian and their squad. Our minors played St Vincent's in the Semi-Final of their Championship. Hopes were high, as we had beaten them during the league campaign. However, it wasn't to be and a stronger Vincent's side came away victorious. We wish them well in the Final. The last match of the weekend was our U12 girls, who continue their winning ways with a 6-08 to 2-06 win over Foxrock Cabinteely. Finally, a reminder that our AGM will take place on 9 December in The Waterside House Hotel at 8pm. For more information on this and all things Pat's, please see our website stpatsgaa.com or our Facebook page StPatsGAA.

ST PATRICK'S, PALMERSTOWN

HARD luck to our U12 footballers, who lost by 3 points to a very strong Ballyboden side in their 2nd place play-off. All our players did themselves, their parents and the club very proud. Minor footballers staged a phenomenal comeback in second half of championship semi-final out in Drumnigh yesterday. Despite their massive efforts, the lads bowed out at the final whistle. They still have the league well within their grasp and recovery time will be short as they take on Thomas Ashe in St Margaret's on Sunday 24th at 11am in league semi-final. Best of luck to them from the whole club. They have made us very proud with their efforts over the last couple of years and truly deserve league honours. Junior footballers play Trinity Gaels in Drumnigh at 3pm next Sunday. From January 1st, it will be compulsory for ALL football players adult and juvenile to wear gum shields when training and playing. We will try to arrange dates for the dentist to visit clubhouse to fit customised gum shields over the next few weeks. Club mass for deceased members will take place this Saturday at 8pm in the clubhouse. All are welcome to attend. If you wish to have a relative or friend remembered at the mass please text name to Ronan Mullins 086-2834399. Lotto Results: 2nd Draw: 09-10-17-19. No winner. Any 3 numbers: Bernie Kavanagh, Liam Kavanagh, Grainne Faughnan. Next draw 24/11/13 jackpot €8,800. Tickets are available throughout the week from SuperValu, Palmerstown House, Chapelizod Post Office, and Mullingar House.
