York keen on McDaid

YORK CITY have offered Derry City man David McDaid a trial.

The striker had been linked with a move to champions Sligo Rovers, who are in the hunt for a new forward due to Mark Quigley's exit from the club, and York are now eager to have a look at the Derry native.

McDaid had been on trial at Fleetwood Town last month but was unable to secure a contract.

Derry have already lost attacking players Mark Farrem, Stephen McLaughlin and Conor Murphy from last year's squad, but boss Declan Devine has been linked with a number of targets, including ex-Cork striker Tadgh Purcell.
