WDL Awards night at Parkview Hotel

TWENTY FIVE players from 16 different clubs have been nominated for the 11th annual Tommy Earls Wicklow and District Football League Awards. The winners of the eight prestigious prizes will be announced this Friday in the Parkview Hotel, Newtownmountkennedy.





The full list of nominees is as follows: Overall Player of the Year: John Heffernan (Newtown Utd), Willie Sinnott (BBK Utd), Maurice Dunne (Wicklow Town), Wayne Byrne (Fassaroe YC). Young Player of the Year: Billy Clarkson (Newtown Utd), Shane Doyle (Rathnew AFC), Patrick Reid (BBK Utd), Ryan Cahill (St. Kevin’s). Andy McEvoy Premier Division: Paddy Byrne (Shillelagh Utd), PJ Dowling (Newtown Utd), John O’Loughlin (Wicklow Town). Pat O'Toole 1 Division 1: Kieran Conway (St. Fergal’s AFC), Stephen Tennant (Wicklow Rov), Willie Sinnott (BBK Utd). Division 2: Wayne Byrne (Fassaroe YC), Mark O’Regan (Seaview Wdrs), Jason Devlin (Rathnew AFC). Division 3: PJ Fluskey (Conary Utd), Garry White (Charlesland AFC), Thomas Duffy (Wicklow Town). Youth League (U18): Sean Heffernan (Newtown Utd), Cormac O’Brien (Arklow Town), Dean Kelly (Glencormac Utd), Daragh O’Donnell (Wicklow Rov). U17 Division: Ciaran Byrne (Arklow Town), Alan Cleary (Enniskerry YC), Josh Davenport (Greystones Utd), Jamie Snell (Rathnew AFC). ALSO UP for grabs is the various manager of the year categories. An overall award will be presented while there will be a separate prize for each of the six Division’s for the 2010/11 season. MEANWHILE 18 teams from 16 club have been shortlisted for the Fair Play prizes. Bookings, sendings off and general behaviour of the players and team management are taken into consideration. U17 Div: St. Anthonys, Rathnew AFC, Arklow Town. * FAI CEO John Delaney is expected to attend, along with a number of other guests, when the Hall of Fame Person of the Year, Special Achievement award, Merit Award and Services to Soccer will also be presented.
