Walters waits for Ipswich getaway

IRELAND B cap Jonathan Walters hopes to secure a move away from Ipswich Town this week as Championship rivals QPR have been linked with a move.

Ipswich boss Roy Keane says that Walters has played his last game for the club as the player reacted badly when Keane stripped him of the captaincy last week, and although Stoke remain favourites to land the £3million-rated forward, Keane says other clubs are keen too.

"We had another bid from a club on Friday. Everyone keeps talking about Stoke but another club has made an offer and we are in talks," Keane said.

Mooney holds out hope of Ireland

FORMER Cork City man Dave Mooney says he hasn't given up on his international ambitions despite dropping into League One with Colchester United.

Dubliner Mooney joined Colchester on a six-month loan deal after being told he was no longer wanted at Reading and has already delivered two goals in three games. "I want to play as high as I can -- I've still got ambitions of playing for Ireland and all that type of stuff -- but for now I've just got to play one game at a time," he says.
