United bid €30m for hummels
... but Dortmund holding out for €41.7m
LOUIS van Gaal is ready to splash the cash for Mats Hummels and Memphis Depay and has already placed offers on the table for both men.
Germany media sources have claimed that Manchester United have already tabled a €30m bid for Hummels who is now certain to leave Borussia Dortmund in the summer.
However, the Old Trafford money men may have to crank that up a considerable amount given that Dortmund's target transfer fee is said to be $45m (€41.7m).
Talks between Manchester United and PSV have advanced to the point where leaks about Memphis Depay's (inset) possible salary package have surfaced - £7m a year over a four-year deal.
According to Dutch legend Ronald de Boer, Manchester United have a huge advantage in the race to sign "one of the biggest talents in Europe".
"I don't want to say which club is more suitable for him, but if he goes to United he knows there is a Dutch coach there who knows him from the World Cup. That is an advantage," said De Boer.
"He has skill compared to a young Cristiano Ronaldo.
"He is very lively, technically unbelievable, very skilful, very fast, he has a great goalscoring record, he can shoot from every distance - he has everything."
