United aim to give Dale the blues

THIS is going to be a tasty affair. Avondale United, the five in-a-row chasing holders of the FAI Intermediate Cup, hit Dublin to take on the LSL champions, Crumlin United on their own patch.

The 'Dale have long forgotten the taste of defeat in this competition having brought the trophy back to Cork on the last four occasions.

Crumlin, though, have longer memories. The Blues were the last team to defeat Avondale in this cup, a three goals to one win in Dalymount Park in May 2010.

Martin Loughran will be quick to remind his players of this fact as the Blues enter their biggest game of the season.

FAI INTERMEDIATE CUP

FIRHOUSE CLOVER v ST MARY'S

The Tallaght lads have suffered a recent dip in form and Peter Flood will hope his side was holding back a top of the range performance for their Cork guests. St Mary's are one of Munster's top intermediate sides and are capable of bringing this one back to Cork. Verdict: Draw.

CRUMILN UNITED v AVONDALE UNITED

The odds are stacked against the Blues but the 'Dale have to fall at some stage. Crumlin have plenty in reserve to end the Cork side's domination of this competition.

Verdict: Home Win.

CASEMENT CELTIC v TOLKA ROVERS

If Rovers perform they will advance to the semi finals. Verdict: Away Win
