Jose Mourinho has conceded that the Premier League title race is over after a derby defeat for his side.

Manchester City now hold an 11-point lead over their rivals from Old Trafford, following City's 2-1 away win, Nicolás Otamendi with the key goal early in the second half.

David Silva and Marcus Rahsford had traded first-half goals but a mistake in the box by Romelu Lukaku gifted Otamendi the winner. Asked if the race was now decided, United boss Mourinho said: "Probably, yes".

But he still took a swipe at City, as a penalty claim for United waved away, by stating that Pep Guardiola's side were "protected".

"Manchester City are a very good team and they are protected by the luck, and the gods of football are behind them. I'm pretty sure everyone is going to fight for points and try and reduce the distance, but the advantage is a very good one."
