KENNY Dalglish is backing his Anfield Trinity to take the Premier League by storm and has reacted with scorn to doubters who believe that Andy Carroll is a waste of money.
Liverpool lined up against Brighton in the FA Cup with Carroll, Luis Suarez and Steven Gerrard on the pitch as match starters for the first time and a goalfest followed. The trio had only previously played 69 minutes on the pitch together.
"The three of them are fantastic footballers and they played really well," said Dalglish. "The more any team gets iconic players like that on the pitch the better chance they have of being successful."
However, Dalgish's pleasure at such a comprehensive hammering for Brighton was soured by further questioning about Carroll's future and the fact that he has not lived up to his £35m tag.
"We will always be supportive of any player. We will judge whether we are happy or unhappy," he said.
Dalglish will consider unleashing the Carroll-Suarez-Gerrard axis again in this weekend's Carling Cup final.
