Stokes given Bucharest test

NEIL LENNON will hand Anthony Stokes a chance to prove himself at Celtic in a friendly against Steaua Bucharest tonight.

The Irish international has been sidelined for six months due to an ankle injury and in that time his future at the club had been thrown into doubt as Stokes was disciplined by the club for attending an event in Dublin organised by dissident Republicans. Lennon is using the mid-season break in the SPL to assess his squad ahead of the rest of the league season and Stokes hopes to get a run-out against the Romanian side in a friendly.

Former Derry City man Paddy McCourt is also facing an uncertain future at Parkhead as he was recently linked with a move to the MLS.
