Spurs tee up teen ace Troy
Mick keep tabs on Parrott as first-team debut looms
Irish teenager Troy Parrott is praying he gets the nod from Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino tonight for his senior debut.
The 17-year-old was left out of the Spurs U23 side for their game last night so he could travel to Colchester with the first team.
He is one of a group of young Irish players hoping to impress with their club sides. Caoimhín Kelleher and Aaron Connolly are also in line for starts.
"Maybe - he was at Leicester but he wasn't included in the 18 players. We will see," Pochettino said when asked if Parrott could feature in Colchester tonight.
"The young players need games to improve and try to show their quality and maybe fight for a place in the starting XI in the Champions League or Premier League."
Mick McCarthy names his squad next week for the Euro 2020 qualiifers and he has told Parrott that he needs to get game time with the Spurs first team before he can be promoted to the senior Irish squad.
Brighton boss Graham Potter is likely to start Connolly away to Aston Villa tomorrow:
"He nearly scored at the weekend and we're happy to have him with us," said Potter.
