Sligo plan to make Zayed bid

SLIGO Rovers are hopeful of making a successful bid for Libyan international Eamon Zayed.

The Dublin native is on the move after quitting his Iranian club Persepolis and he had been in line for a move to a club in Dubai, who offered Zayed a lucrative four-month deal.

But, after initial talks with the club in Dubai, Zayed has yet to sign and that has alerted League of Ireland clubs.

Newly-promoted Limerick made an approach, but Sligo, keen to nab a new striker after losing top-scorer Mark Quigley to Shamrock Rovers, will try again to lure Zayed to the Showgrounds.

Sligo are also tracking Derry City striker David McDaid after his proposed move to English side Fleetwood Town fell through, but Derry boss Declan Devine is hopeful of keeping McDaid at the club.
