Simon says baggies can finish in top 10

SIMON COX hopes his in-form West Brom side can carry on their good form until the end of the season and squeeze into the top 10.

SIMON COX hopes his in-form West Brom side can carry on their good form until the end of the season and squeeze into the top 10.

Only a few months ago the Baggies were facing a relegation battle, but some impressive results have pushed them 14 points away from the drop zone and Cox says that the team, currently 12th, are looking up.

“It’s been a good season for us and we want to finish as high in the table as we can. We finished 11th last season and the expectation around the club was that we would be better than that this season,” Cox says.

“For the players and the manager, our main aim was to finish above the relegation zone and keep our Premier League status for another season, that will help the club so much in terms of finance and the long-term future of the club.

“We’re not definitely safe yet but once we get to that 40-point marker – and hopefully we will get to that as soon as possible – it’s a matter of how high we can finish.

“It would be nice to finish in the top 10 and do better than we did last season, but the main goal is to stay in the division.”
