Shels back in FAI Cup
THE FAI have confirmed that Shelbourne are back in the FAI Cup.
The Reds had been knocked out of the competition by non-league Sheriff YC, but even when Sheriff were penalised for fielding an ineligible player in the game by their removal from the competition, Shels were not initially due to face Limerick in the quarter-final, as Limerick were handed a bye into the last four.
But following a Shels appeal, the FAI have agreed to reinstate the Tolka Park club.
The other three quarter-finals take place over the next five days, kicking off with the Cork City-St Pats and Dundalk-Bohemians ties tomorrow night, but as Shels were already listed to play a league game tomorrow -- ironically at home to Limerick -- a new date has to be found for the Cup tie.
