Ryan in Mons bid

VETERAN winger Bobby Ryan will line out for Monaghan United tonight in a bid to win a contract for next season, writes Aidan Fitzmaurice.

The 32-year-old, who won league medals with Bohemians and Shelbourne, spent last season with Galway United but is now a free agent and eager to carry on his playing career.

Waterford United had expressed an interest in Ryan but Monaghan boss Roddy Collins has also been in contact and wants Ryan to play in a friendly away to Newry City tonight.

"I want to play on for at least another season, I have a few more years left in me," says Ryan. "I've spoke to Roddy so I'll train with Monaghan for a while and see how that goes."
