Rowlands answers Col’
FORMER Ireland cap Martin Rowlands admits it was difficult to leave Premier League side QPR after almost a decade at Loftus Road, but the 32-year-old is focused on reviving his career with Colchester United.
Rowlands joined QPR in 2003 but severed his ties with the club last week, agreeing to drop down from the top flight to League One with his move to Colchester after mark Hughes agreed to let him leave.
“It’s a bit of a wrench to leave QPR because I had been there a long time and had some great times,” said Rowlands, who won his fifth and final senior cap against Montenegro in 2009. “With the new manager coming in, they have made a lot of new signings, and if you are not going to be in the squad or playing, then you are better to move on and play football.”
