BRENDAN Rogers is looking to sign Italian striker Fabio Borini in order to solve Liverpool's goal-scoring problems.
It would not be the first time that Rodgers has signed the young striker after he bought him in on a two month loan spell while he was in charge of Swansea. Rogers also coached him in the underage ranks while both were at Chelsea.
Borini refused to sign a new contract with Chelsea last year and moved to Parma. He was then loaned to Roma who bought a stake in Borini to strike up an unusual co-ownership deal with Parma.
Playing for Roma, Borini scored an impressive 10 goals in 26 appearances and was picked in Italy's Euro 2012 squad. He has a big reputation in his own country and is viewed as a future star for the Azzurri.
The Reds have yet to make a formal bid but it would be expected that they would have to pay up to €10 million to sign the player.
Both Italian clubs in the unusual deal would be ready to cash in on Borini who cost Parma only €750,000 in compensation.
It would be the second player with Swansea connections that Rodgers would hope to sign after Gylfi Sigurdsson another target.
Jose Mourinho has given the green light for Real Madrid to step up their chase of Luka Modric with the Spanish club willing to pay over €30m for the Tottenham player.
The Madrid giants are confident of finalising a deal for the Croatian with Manchester United not likely to follow up their interest in the Modric after they agreed a deal for Shinji Kagawa.
Modric wants to leave White Hart Lane for Champions League football but managerless Spurs don't want to lose their midfield general and are not ready to sell Modric until a new manager is appointed.
Hulk says he does not want to move to PSG - as he holds out for a move to Chelsea. The 25-year-old Porto striker looked set for a €40m move to Stamford Bridge recently but the potential deal has been held up as the two clubs continue to discuss terms over the fee.
Porto winger James Rodriguez's future will be sorted soon with Manchester United interested in the player as potential replacement for Nani if he decides to leave for Juventus. United have tracked Rodriguez for well over a year now and Alex Ferguson is considering making his move this summer. The winger (20), rated in the £25m bracket, has previously spoken of his desire to play for United.
Blackburn are set to offer a staggering €3m contract to persuade Danny Murphy to drop down into the Championship. They hope the deal will be enough to persuade Murphy to snub the Premiership for one last big deal as his career winds down.
Murphy has an offer to join former boss Mark Hughes at QPR but may choose to join Blackburn and return to his native north-west with Rovers optimistic they will complete the deal.
Olof Mellberg could be set for a shock return to the Premier League with Everton targeting the Swedish International. Talks between Melberg and his current club Olympiacos have stalled prompting Everton to move for the former Aston Villa cult hero.
Southampton are looking to bolster their squad with the signing of Rangers captain Steve Davis.
Paul Lambert wants to make Senegal striker Ibrahima Balde (23) his first Aston Villa signing.
