League One side Rochdale believe they have found a player of real quality in Ireland U21 cap Ryan Delaney.

The Wexford native, who spent the 2017 season on loan to Cork City from Burton Albion, sealed a permanent move to Rochdale earlier this month.

And he caught the eye on his Dale debut, in an FA Cup draw with Championship outfit Millwall.

"We know what type of player Ryan is going to be for us," said manager Keith Hill after Delaney impressed in a 2-2 draw with the Lions.

"We thought it was the right opportunity to play him and he didn't let us down.

"He's a warrior and a defender, and his temperament is superb. He's a great player for the right here, right now and for the future of this football club.

"He's played against a Championship side who have very, very good strikers and I think he's done well."
