Robbie Keane rolled back the years and even gave fans a reminder of his goal celebration after he scored a wonderful goal at Tottenham’s new stadium on Saturday.
Playing for a Tottenham legends side that featured Jurgen Klinsmann, Paul Gascoigne, David Ginola and his old Ireland team-mate Stephen Carr, Republic of Ireland assistant manager Keane scored a stunning goal against an Inter Milan selection on a day of celebration in front of a raucous crowd.
“It was certainly enjoyable to play in this stadium, which is absolutely fantastic,” declared Keane. “You wish you were playing again there to play here every week. It is one of the best around and you can really feel the atmosphere, like the old White Hart Lane.
“You see the reception that they (the fans) gave me. It was unbelievable. I won’t be doing that cartwheel too often, but this was the right occasion to do it.”
