'Revelation' Maguire is back fit
Preston boss Alex Neill says that Ireland striker Seán Maguire, due to return to the side next weekend after injury, has been a "revelation" since his summer move from Cork City.
Maguire was forced to sit out last week's defeat to league leaders Wolves with a hamstring injury but Neil says that the 23-year-old has benefited from a rest and should be clear to face Brentford next Saturday.
"I think Seán has been an absolute revelation for us. I think he will benefit from this niggle which gives him time not training and a chance to recover," Neil said at a forum for Preston fans last night, the Lilywhites boss aware that Maguire needed a break as he has been in action non-stop since Cork's season began in February.
"The number of games he's played is something I've discussed with Seán and it's something we're aware of.
"Seán was just going to miss the Wolves game. We are hoping he is going to be ready for the weekend."
Neil also said that Daryl Horgan is still in his thoughts. "The issue for Daryl is he has Seán Maguire and Tom Barkhuizen ahead of him, it's not that he's not good enough," he added.
"The team has evolved from the start of the season, hopefully for Daryl he gets an opportunity."
Horgan has made just four sub appearances this season.
