Irish keeper Rene Gilmartin has hooked up with Championship side Bristol City after a spell with Colchester United.

The Dubliner, who previously played for Walsall, Watford and St Patrick's Athletic, made 22 appearances for League One side Colchester last season but Bristol City were keen to have him on board and Gilmartin (32) signed a two-year deal, as back-up.

In other transfer news, midfielder John O'Sullivan has dropped down a division, joining Morecambe from Blackpool. The 25-year-old had been on loan to SPL side Dundee last season.

And Dubliner Kevin Dawson is on the move, leaving Cheltenham Town for fellow League Two side Forest Green Rovers.

Meanwhile, current Ireland U21 cap Liam Bossin is on trial with non-league outfit Fylde.
