Redknapp sure Spurs will secure third place

Harry Redknapp is confident Tottenham are still clear favourites to finish third in the Premier League despite seeing his team lose for the second time in a week.

Spurs had opened up a 10-point gap over Arsenal but that now stands at just four points after they followed up their 5-2 derby defeat by the Gunners with a 3-1 loss to Manchester United at home yesterday.

The defeat, which came courtesy of a header from Wayne Rooney and a brace from Ashley Young, was harsh on the hosts, who dominated large parts of the game.

Despite gunning for the title for most of the season, Tottenham are now nervously looking over their shoulders at fourth-place Arsenal, and to a lesser extent Chelsea, who trail them by seven points in fifth.

"We're still in pole position. I still fancy us to finish third," said Redknapp. "That 10-point lead has become four points and we've got some hard games to come. We go to Everton and we've got Chelsea away."

Redknapp was stunned to see his team come out of yesterday's game against Alex Ferguson's title hopefuls with nothing after dominating, despite the absence of key players such as Scott Parker, Gareth Bale and Rafael van der Vaart.

He said: "We played so well first half and to come in 1-0 down, it was unbelievable. We dominated the game, (they) did everything I asked them to do."
