Liverpool star James Milner insists the club's Middle East trip will not distract them from their goal of landing the Premier League title.

The Reds fielded a second string in last night's heavy League Cup defeat by Aston Villa.

Meanwhile, Jurgen Klopp's first-choice eleven are in Doha to take on Monterrey in the World Club Championship this evening (5.30).

Duties in Qatar means they have no Premier League game next weekend so Manchester City have the chance to reduce the Reds' lead at the top but Milner's not concerned.

"We want to continue our good form," he said.

"If it's a distraction with a chance to win a trophy, that's a pretty good distraction.

"We just want to keep being successful and winning trophies; you have to be successful to be at this tournament so hopefully we can go out there and play like we have been and win the two games.

"In terms of schedule, it's no different to what we would have had if we hadn't been here - we'd have been playing against Villa and a game at the weekend in the Premier League anyway.

"So, nothing has changed for us, really.
