Quinn's son Michael offered trial at Conference side York
Niall Quinn's son, Michael, will this week park his Gaelic football career and try his luck in England as he's been offered a trial by Conference side York City, writes Aidan Fitzmaurice.
Despite his dad's track record in soccer, Michael has largely stuck to Gaelic football and was second-choice keeper with the Dublin U21 panel which won the Leinster title, having previously played at minor level for the Dubs.
But York City, who were relegated from League Two last season, are now keen to take a look.
"We've taken two goalkeepers on trial, because we need competition in that area like the rest of the team. One is Niall Quinn's son Michael, who has been a Gaelic football goalkeeper, which is a bit different and the other lad is from Huddersfield. We could look at both in the pre-season games," says York boss Jackie McNamara.
