Quinn severs links with Cats
NIALL QUINN has today severed his ties with Sunderland, ending a six-year stay which saw the Dubliner serve as caretaker manager, chairman and director.
Quinn (below) had already taken a backseat role at the club, quitting his chairman's post to work in an ambassadorial role. Now he's decided to leave altogether and will focus on his business interests in Ireland.
"I've had the most amazing six years and it gives me a huge sense of pride to see where Sunderland is today," said Quinn.
"I am looking forward to spending more time with my family and exploring business interests away from football."
Black Cats manager Martin O'Neill said: "He has been the heartbeat of the football club for so long. He is Mr Sunderland and always will be."
