Ireland U21 striker Ronan Curtis should aim higher than a possible move to League One side Portsmouth, his club boss has said.
Donegal lad Curtis, who scored a hat-trick for Derry in Monday's EA Sports Cup win over Shelbourne, has been linked with a move away from the Brandywell and boss Kenny Shiels says he expects him to move this summer.
But Shiels maintains that a move to Pompey would not suit the in-demand forward.
"The boy wants to go," Shiels told the Derry Journal.
"It's just unfortunate he's not going up a level. When they go we want them to go up a level. We're better than Portsmouth to be brutally frank. We're a better football team. We play a better brand of football," he added.
