CLUB captain Russell Martin says the Norwich City players are fully behind under-fire manager Chris Hughton.

The Canaries were trounced 7-0 at Manchester City on Saturday, leaving them stuck in the Premier League's bottom three.

It was a sixth defeat from 10 opening league games and resulted in a section of disillusioned Norwich fans calling for Hughton to be dismissed.

Martin, though, insists the English club are all united in their attempts to turn the season around, with West Ham set to visit Carrow Road for Saturday's late kick-off.

"We are all behind the gaffer. That still remains the same," Martin said.

"We have not been good enough, the manager will get a lot of stick for that and so will we.

"It is up to us to take some responsibility and accountability for what has gone wrong."

For the moment, at least, Hughton has support from both his squad and in the boardroom – although chairman Alan Bowkett last month warned the directors were expecting a top-10 finish at the end of the season following an unprecedented summer spending spree of more than £20million.
