Pay cut for Lawrence
IRISH winger Liam Lawrence has confirmed that he has taken a pay cut along with his team-mates at struggling Portsmouth.
"We have taken a pay cut until May and it is a significant one, not just a tiny one," said Lawrence.
"We are in the bottom three because of the people above us who have ruined the football club. In any job you don't want to take a wage cut but we are honest lads and want to do our bit for the club."
Meanwhile Alex McLeish believes that Stephen Ireland can help replace Robbie Keane when the Irish captain finishes his loan spell with the club tomorrow.
"There's no reason why Stevie can't come back and emulate what Robbie has done," said McLeish. "In terms of goals rather than setting people up, Stevie could make a big contribution between now and the end of the season."
