Murphy writes off Euros
IPSWICH TOWN striker Daryl Murphy is not counting on a Euro 2012 call-up from Giovanni Trapattoni this summer.
The Waterford-born player, on a season-long loan deal from Celtic to Ipswich, has played under Trapattoni, winning his seventh senior cap against Norway in 2008, but has not featured for his country since then and Murphy knows he's way down the pecking order with Ireland.
"I will be going on holiday with my family and catching up with friends. I'm only being realistic. I don't think I have any chance of getting into the squad," he says.
"The lads who have got us there have done brilliantly and it is only right that they are allowed to carry on for the finals.
"I would never rule myself out and if they suddenly had a lot of injuries, which meant that I was called up, then happy days and I would be absolutely delighted. But I just cannot see it happening."
