More woe for O'Neill as McGoldrick joins injured
DAVID McGoldrick is likely to join Robbie Brady on the absent list for Ireland's Euro 2016 qualifier against Poland later this month, writes Aidan Fitzmaurice.
Martin O'Neill is due in Dublin tomorrow week to name his squad for the key clash with the Poles but while the return from injury of Shane Long, James McCarthy, Darron Gibson, Marc Wilson and Stephen Ward in recent weeks has heartened the Ireland boss, his attacking options are looking limited.
Aiden McGeady and Anthony Pilkington remain concerns with their ongoing absence at club level, while Hull City have just confirmed that Brady is out for five to six weeks, giving him no chance of being fit for the qualifier.
And Ipswich boss Mick McCarthy has now revealed that McGoldrick, who impressed on his debut against the USA in November, could be out until next month.
"Didzy is hoping to get back training quick but whether we can get enough training into him to have him involved, who knows. It might be after the international break," said McCarthy.
