MIDDLESBROUGH boss Aitor Karanka is hoping old friend Mesut Ozil

MIDDLESBROUGH boss Aitor Karanka is hoping old friend Mesut Ozil (inset) has an off-day on Sunday as he attempts to pull of another major FA Cup shock.

Sky Bet Championship leaders Boro head for Arsenal having stunned Manchester City in the last round and intent on serving up a repeat in north London.

However, if they are to do so, they may have to get to grips with £42.5million Germany international Ozil, who scored a stunning opener in last weekend's 2-1 derby defeat at Tottenham.

The pair worked together during their time at Real Madrid, where Karanka served as Jose Mourinho's assistant, and he knows the havoc the midfielder can wreak if he is allowed to get into his stride.

Karanka said: "He's a very good lad. I spent three seasons with him - he's an amazing player and I hope on Sunday he doesn't have his best day.

"I hope he can rest for the league they have some important games coming up! But it's not just Ozil, it's Cazorla too. They have a lot of (dangerous) players.

"We played very well against City - very defensive, but very good. But we are top of the table now so for them, it is not going to be a surprise. It is going to be difficult, very difficult.

"Arsenal are another Champions League team with an amazing squad. You can say that they have some players injured, but they still have a very strong squad. It's a good challenge for us.

"We didn't fear Liverpool or Manchester City. Anything can happen. We go there thinking we can beat them. It's possible. But they have an amazing squad."
