Meyler in farewell to the Tigers
Ireland midfielder David Meyler has confirmed his exit from Hull City after almost six years with the Tigers.
Meyler was reportedly keen on staying on with City but the club have decided to let a batch of players go, inclduing the Cork native.
"I just want to take this opportunity to thank all the fans at HullCity for the past five and a half years. It's been an incredible journey. I'm truly honoured to be part of the most successful period in the club's history. We've made memories together I'll never forget," said Meyler, likely to attract interest from rival clubs in the Championship.
Also on the move is former international Paul Green, one of the casualties of Oldham's relegation to the fourth tier. Oldham have released seven players, including Green (35) but Jack Byrne and Patrick McEleney remain under contract.
Some of the Irish contingent at Preston could be headed for talks over the summer as boss Alex Neil says he plans to reshape his squad.
Sean Maguire, Greg Cunningham and Alan Browne were all first team regulars as Preston just missed out on the playoffs but Daryl Horgan, Kevin O'Connor and Andy Boyle may be linked with a move away.
"In the summer there will be decisions made, some of which we will decide and some of which will be from the players' camps in terms of whether they want to be here or not," says Preston boss Neil.
"I will be making it clear to anyone who doesn't want to be here, we will facilitate them moving on."
