McMillan commits to Sligo
DEFENDER Evan McMillan says he was happy to commit to Sligo Rovers for another season despite the lure of a move back to Dublin.
McMillan helped Sligo win the FAI Cup last season and secure Europa League football for 2014, and Sligo have been boosted with news that McMillan, along with winger Aaron Greene, have both extended their contracts.
McMillan had been linked with a return to St Patrick's Athletic but he's decided to stay on.
"I'm really happy in Sligo. There was interest from another club but I've really enjoyed it here. It is a unique club," said McMillan.
"Winning the FAI Cup this year was brilliant. The build-up, the final itself and the celebrations afterwards, it is why I came here in the first place. For me now, the league title is what we want.
"Winning the league two seasons in a row is such a huge task. It hasn't been done too often. St Pat's now have that challenge ahead of them so we'll see how they cope with it."
Former Bohemians and Shamrock Rovers man Greene is also staying on at the Showgrounds as the Tallaght native is settled in the west.
"Once you win silverware it is a good season. It's great for our supporters, our players and the entire club. I'm pleased to be here again and will try to win back our league title," said Greene.
"I've settled in Sligo again, I love the way of life and my family are here with me. Next season I want to score more goals and give the league another go.
"The manager is putting together another talented squad so I feel Sligo Rovers is a great place to be."
