McGoldrick decision a boost for Mick
Mick McCarthy says he's pleased that Ireland striker David McGoldrick is staying with Ipswich Town for the rest of the season.
McGoldrick (30) is out of contract in the summer and was heavily linked with a move away this week but while there was interest in the forward, it was not enough to lure him away.
"Didzy didn't want to leave, he wanted to stay here," said McCarthy, ahead of today's clash with his former club Sunderland.
"I think if someone had offered him a three-and-a-half year contract he might have upped sticks and left and I wouldn't have blamed him because his contract is running out.
"I'm pragmatic about it all but thankfully nobody did. Every transfer window there has been a story he might be leaving and he's still here."
