McCoist sweats over Whittaker fitness
RANGERS manager Ally McCoist is facing an anxious wait to discover if Steven Whittaker requires surgery on a groin problem.
The full-back will travel to Manchester next week where he will seek the advice of a specialist.
But the player looks set for a further spell on the sidelines, with McCoist's selection worries continuing to mount.
The Rangers boss said: "Steven Whittaker is going down next Tuesday or Wednesday to see the specialist regarding his groin problem and it will be determined then if he needs surgery.
"If there is anything needing done then hopefully it will be done immediately."
The Scottish champions have already been dealt a blow with the news that Kyle Lafferty will be out for six weeks with a hamstring tear.
The striker is on crutches after leaving the pitch on a stretcher nine minutes into Monday's 3-0 win over Motherwell in the Premier League.
