IRELAND U21 keeper Aaron McCarey will commit his long-term future to League One side Wolves this week by signing a new deal.

McCarey, 21, has made just one first-team appearance for Wolves since he joined from Monaghan United in 2010, but is highly-rated by boss Kenny Jackett, and the club have now moved to secure the keeper's future.

"We have been in talks for a while about a new deal and it should be signed this week, which is great news for me," McCarey told the Herald.

"I know I haven't played as much first team football as I would have liked but the club have told me that I am in their plans for the future and they are keen to keep me here, so I hope to sign up for another two and a half years.

"Things are really looking up, the team are going really well in League One – we're second in the table – and hopefully we can push on and get back into the Championship for next season.

"I know I will have to be patient and wait my turn, but there is a lot of competition for places here."
