Madden on the up says Kavanagh
GRAHAM KAVANAGH believes that former Ireland U21 cap Paddy Madden's career is ready to take off at League One side Carlisle United after he finally ended his goal drought.
Madden (pictured) joined Carlisle from Bohemians in January of last year but while he managed to get a place in the team, he struggled for goals and went 23 games without scoring, before he found the net in Saturday's 3-2 win over Yeovil, which boosted Carlisle's promotion bid.
"Paddy has come over and as much as he has played in the League of Ireland, it is a totally different league over here," said Kavanagh, who is the first-team coach at Carlisle.
"It has taken him a little bit of time and he probably became a little bit impatient himself, which you understand, everybody wants to play.
"But, circumstances at times, whether it be results, whether it be performances or whether it be injuries, Paddy has now got his chance and, to be fair to him, he looks like he is going to stay in the team for a while."
