IN-FORM Limerick clocked up their sixth win in seven games to knock top-flight side Bray Wanderers out of the EA Sports Cup last night.
Unfortunate to lose out 1-0 to Shamrock Rovers in the FAI Cup last month, Pat Scully's men showed some class with a 3-1 win away to Bray.
Three goals in the space of nine minutes in the first half from Garbhan Coughlan (2) and Gary Sheahan gave Limerick a 3-0 lead and Bray's only response was a 55th-minute penalty from top scorer Jason Byrne.
Meanwhile, Drogheda United moved into the next round thanks to a win in a penalty shoot-out against local rivals Dundalk.
Eric Foley had put Drogheda 1-0 up in the 33rd minute, but Mark Griffin got Dundalk level on 58 minutes, but with no more goals in normal time or in 30 minutes of added time it went to penalties, and Drogheda man Stephen Trimble saved twice to set up Gavin Brennan to score the winning penalty.
