Laudrup's praise for Bony
Michael Laudrup believes Wilfried Bony took "a big step in the right direction" after the striker scored his eighth goal this season in the 1-1 draw at Kuban Krasnodar in the Europa League.
Having been pegged back in the reverse fixture a fortnight ago by Djibril Cisse's last-gasp penalty, the Swans were again undone in injury time at Kuban Stadium as Ibrahima Balde cancelled out Bony's opener for the Russians, who had defender Xandao sent off with 15 minutes remaining.
The result means Swansea have now won just twice in their last nine games in all competitions, and must wait for the chance to secure progress from Group A, which would have been confirmed with a victory in Russia.
But the performance of Bony, who produced an emphatic finish after great work by Alejandro Pozuelo and Roland Lamah, provided some comfort for Laudrup.
Laudrup has used his £12million record signing sparingly but with talisman Michu sidelined by an ankle problem, Bony put in a performance that suggested he is ready to shoulder the goalscoring burden.
Laudrup said: "He was very active and involved in a lot of good movements, he got a little tired but that's okay for me."
