Anna Kirk was the Shelbourne star yesterday in the AUL complex as the Reds eased through to the U-14 LWFC semi-finals with to a perfect ten performance against Grange Woodbine.

Kirk bagged her hat-trick inside the opening twenty-five minutes and scored her sides first three goals of the game to set them on the road to victory.

And when Kirk wasn't steering the ball into the back of the net, her team-mates were and they simply had too much fire power for the Grange Woodbine girls.

Those Grange girls showed a real never say die attitude though and were unlucky on more than one occasion to not get on the score-sheet themselves.

Shels opened the scoring eventually after 21 minutes. And I say eventually as they missed a whole lot of chances to open their account beforehand.

When the goal did come though it was Kirk who finished past Clarke after a fine through pass by Mia Dodd.

The hosts made it 2-0 when Kirk raced clear of the Grange defence to fire low in the far corner and just a couple of minutes later it was three with Kirk completing a quick fire hat-trick with a sublime top corner finish after she had been picked out with a top class pass by Kerri Duffy.

Mia Dodd was impressing for the home side and she was involved in their next two goals.

She made it 4-0 herself with a fine strike low into the bottom corner from 25-yards and it was her strike that was saved by Holly Clarke that led to Jess Ziu back-heeling the rebound to Sophie O'Beirne to score.

Just before half time, Grange were denied twice by Rachel Kelly.

She first denied Carla Fitzsimons and then dived full length to stop Leah O'Reilly's effort.

Shels made it 6-0 before the half time whistle though when Jess Ziu snuck in at the back post to drill home.

In the second period, Shels' hunger for goals didn't wane.

It was 7-0 when Mia Dodd scored from distance once more and then a double from Chloe Carroll moved Shels advantage out to nine.

And the final goal of the game arrived just before the final whistle when Megan Coleman volleyed home from Carroll's cross.
