Keown heads for SPL as O'Shea also moves
Ireland U21 cap Niall Keown will try and ignite his career in Scotland after sealing a loan move to the SPL.
Defender Niall, a son of former England international Martin, has been at Reading for eight years but has made just two league appearances for the Royals and they have now allowed the 21-year-old, who is under contract with Reading until 2018, to join Partick Thistle until the end of the season.
Also on the move is former U21 cap Jay O'Shea, who has left Chesterfield and moved to League One rivals Sheffield United. "Jay is someone we've monitored for quite a while now," Blades boss Chris Wilder says.
"He gives us options and versatility and has been a stand-out performer when Chesterfield have enjoyed success."
Current U21 international Mide Shodipo will also move on as QPR boss Ian Holloway admits that the London-born but Kildare-raised forward needs to go out on loan, having lost his place.
"He'd probably do better with a little bit of a loan spell," says Holloway. "I love him around the group and I'd love to play him a bit more. Everyday he's out there, he's fresh. He's like a puppy with a treat, he can't wait for a treat - it's what I love about him."
