Keogh's clean slate hope

DERBY COUNTY'S Irish defender Richard Keogh hopes that the national team's new management team will come in with a "clean slate" and give fringe players a chance.

Keogh won two caps, in friendly games against Poland and Georgia, under Giovanni Trapattoni, but he's failed to make the squad for recent games and didn't make it into the 27-man panel for the upcoming matches against Latvia and Poland.

"I hope that everyone is given a clean slate. Anyone who is in good form for their club should get a good crack at it," Keogh said, welcoming the arrival of Martin O'Neill and Roy Keane.

FANTASTIC

"They are both fantastic managers. Roy Keane has obviously been a fantastic player for Ireland and, with the man and character he is, I'm sure all the Irish fans will be pleased to see him there. Martin O'Neill's CV speaks for itself."
