Keogh expresses delight at three-year Rams deal
RICHARD Keogh says he never had any desire to leave Derby County after he put pen to paper on a new deal which will keep him at the club until 2017.
Aware that a number of clubs were taking a look at Keogh before the last transfer window closed, Derby were keen to sign up their defender on a long term deal and now the Rams have agreed on a three-year contract with Keogh.
"When I knew the club wanted to offer me a contract I was very keen to sit down and get something sorted," said Keogh.
"It has taken a while, sometimes contract talks can take longer. We have been negotiating and I am delighted it has all been agreed. A few of the lads have signed up now as well which is a big thing for me."
Keogh was included in the 37-man squad named by Martin O'Neill yesterday for the double header against Gibraltar and Germany, while O'Neill's counterpart Allen Bula was also starting his preparations for the October games as he revealed his squad for their qualifiers away to Ireland and at home to Georgia.
Bula has again gone with a largely home-based panel for the Euro qualifiers, Gibraltar hoping to improve on their opening game in the group where they lost 7-0 at home to Poland.
Three English-based players have been selected for Gibraltar: Preston defender Scott Wiseman, Bristol Rovers midfielder Jake Gosling and Adam Priestly, from Conference side Farlsey.
