Kennedy action to whet the appetite

THE SFAI Kennedy Cup kicks-off in Limerick today with 32 leagues vying for the most sought after trophy in Irish schoolboy soccer.

Limerick University will play host to 96 games over the next five days as the cream of Irish Under 13 schoolboy talent put on a ‘fiesta of football’. The DDSL can expect a serious challenge to their bid for a record breaking eight in a row but several leagues have been mentioned on the schoolboy grapevine as secretly ‘fancying their chances’.

The DDSL will start as favourites on the back of their recent history of success but manager John Devine, the former Republic of Ireland international, knows that he can expect a full and thorough examination of his charges’ credentials over five days of frenetic schoolboy action.

DDSL NEW SEASON MEANWHILE, the DDSL new season will kick off on August 27th and 28th. The Under 12s will play a full programme while the Under 13 and Under 14s will see action in the Premier and Major divisions only. On Sunday (Aug 28), all sections, 15 to 1, will kick-off with midweek games also scheduled for Saturday and Sundays.

The ‘Small Sided’ DDSL season will kick-off on Saturday September 3 and 4. The Formation meeting will be on August 11 in Abbotstown at 8.0pm and all DDSL clubs are to attend. The application deadline for the DDSL season is July 31.
