Kearns debut ends in defeat
IT WAS a case of mixed feelings for former Dundalk man Daniel Kearns as he made his debut for Championship side Peterborough United on Saturday, but saw his side lose against his former club West Ham.
Kearns joined Darren Ferguson's side from Dundalk last month but had to wait until Saturday for his debut as he came on as a late sub in a 1-0 defeat.
He became the 16th ex-League of Ireland player to appear in England's top two divisions this season.
ST JOHNSTONE boss Derek McInnes was delighted to see Ireland striker Cillian Sheridan end a nine-game goal famine to earn the side a 2-0 win over Hearts.
Sheridan had failed to score for the Saints since his summer move on loan from CSKA Sofia, but he worked well with strike partner Francisco Sandaza to get the win that moves St Johnstone up to joint fourth in the table.
"The front two were excellent. Fran has taken a lot of the plaudits, but we recognise how hard Cillian is working," said McInnes.
"He's been putting in a shift without getting the rewards, so it's great to see him score."
