North rout South to qualify for quarters

THE North Dublin Schoolboy League produced a five-goal demolition of the South Dublin Football League in their final match to clinch their group and book their quarter-final spot in the Kennedy Cup.

Goals from Chris Darby (two), Sean Doyle, Adam Clarke and an own goal saw them leapfrog Limerick Desmond, who could only manage a scoreless draw in their final Group 4 clash.

The NDSL will now meet North Tipperary, who qualified for their first SFAI Kennedy Cup quarter-final as they grabbed a lastminute equaliser courtesy of Michael Greed to top their group.

The DDSL overcame Roscommon 1-0 thanks to Thomas Tiernan's second-half strike while Derek Daly's winner against North East Counties sealed their progress. Midlands Schoolboys topped their group following a 1-1 draw against Athlone having earlier drawn with group top seeds Wexford.

Cork Schoolboys nudged out West Cork for group victory by defeating Dundalk 2-0 and they were facing Munster rivals Waterford today.

Galway romped to top spot in Group One with three straight wins and a record of 12 goals scored and none conceded to set up a last-eight meeting against Kilkenny.
