Four-star cabs cruise to victory

CABINTEELY FC.......................4

GRANADA.............................0

A GOOD all-round performance by Cabinteely saw them win their third game in the SDFL Under 9 Division 1 section on Saturday morning, when they accounted for Granada when winning 4-0.

With players missing each weekend, and two wins and two defeats to their credit so far, the management are trying to get the right balance into the side in order to make some kind of a sustained challenge in this division.

On Saturday all the pieces of that jigsaw fell into place as they got off to a flying start, when they hit the front in the third minute, and never looked back.

It was Ben Cooney who did the spade work when he burst out of defence and raced down the left wing, before send in an inch perfect cross that Craig Brodrick tucked home.

Two minutes later it was 2-0 as Cooney played a pass to Matthew McKenna, he chipped the ball into the box and there was Sean McCann to head home, and it was a lead they held until the break.

Dylan Fitzsimons had great chance to get the visitors back into the game five minutes after the restart when he burst into the box, but his well struck effort was well saved by the Cabs Jamie Dunne.

And two minutes later it got worse for Granada when the home side went 3-0 in front, when McCann drove home a brilliant free kick from the left side of the area. The set back did not upset the visitors as they continued to take the game to the home side, but no matter how hard they tried they just could not find a way of getting the ball into the net.

That was not a problem for Cabinteely and when they added a fourth in the dying minutes it was no surprise. Geoff Myles was the provider for Sasha Kuechenmeister to fire home the final goal.
